If ever there ever there were a Spring day so perfect,
allowing the vibrancy of life to dance
across the grayed-brown hardened world.
A cotton-candy morning light
breaks the horizon
ushering in a true blue sky,
Golden stars with fluted cups
butter the lawns,
encircling trees.
Tiny 5 petaled periwinkle blooms
pepper the edges
of pavement,
Flaming fuchsia blossoms
popcorn a human-size bush
casting a pinkish haze into the room just beyond the window
Tufts of white cotton
scatter across the
stretching arms of trees awakening once more.
Nature’s colors preach
“Look- life returns, regrows, reshapes after times of dreariness. Keep hoping.”
Well, today is that kind of day.
This poem was written to a prompt from EthicalELA #VerseLove- If Ever There Was A Spring Day So Perfect, https://www.ethicalela.com/if-ever-there-were-a-spring-day-so-perfect/.
The poem “Today” by Billy Collins was the inspiration for the poem. The first line and last are taken from that poem.
