What Did I just Hear? Day 14 SOLSC

“You have been wearing the wrong glasses all year!”

My husband went to his annual appointment with his eye doctor today. It began with discovering the exam might not be covered by insurance. While waiting for an answer from the insurance company, the doctor started looking at my husband’s glasses. He walked out of the room and was gone for awhile.

Upon returning, he looked at my husband and said, “You have been wearing the wrong lenses for a year.”

“WHAT?”

No one is really sure how this happened. The lenses for my husband’s glasses are special ordered to match the frames. The eye doctor was just as mystified as we were.

Then the eye exam happened and my husband needs a stronger prescription than what he was supposed to have had last year. The doctor is checking with the technician in charge of lenses (also the owner of the store) to see if these lenses will be free. In my mind, they definitely should be as well as the new frames. They need to do something to make this right.

Honestly, I just want my husband to have the correct prescription so his headaches go away and he can see clearly.

  1. Oh, how disappointing that he has had the wrong glasses and headaches as a result. At least you are dealing with the same shop that GAVE HIM THE WRONG LENSES! Definitely a free exam, lenses and frames should be thrown in!

  2. How frustrating! And awful. You trust that the glasses you get are correct and unless it’s way off, you probably wouldn’t notice enough to know that’s the problem. And then to be getting headaches from it. Uuuuugh. That’s terrible. Hope you get it straightened out and get those new ones for free!

  3. Oh no, I had that happen once, but with only one lens. We put our faith in those making the glasses, but how would we ever know they aren’t the correct lenses? I hope they make it right and your husband starts getting relief with new glasses.

  4. I wanted to hit the like button because I like the writing (I liked how you started with the most important line. It caught my attention!) but I also wanted a dislike button as I disliked what happened! (A year of headaches due to someone else’s mistake!!)

  5. You go to experts trusting them to give you what you need to fix your problem and then something like this happens. They definitely need to make things right. Hope things work out for your husband.
