Living as a Writer – SOLC Day 31

For 31 days,

I lived the life of a writer.

My eyes open

catching

moments of inspiration throughout my day,

my brain

scheduling

time to write each and every day,

my fingers tapping letters and

creating

slices of various lengths and forms,

my eyes reading through posts

noticing

inspiration and ways to improve my craft,

my soul

connecting

with fellow writers through comments and this community,

my heart

beating

joyfully with so much time extended to this passion,

I lived the life of a writer,

for 31 days.

  1. What a lovely poem! You captured all the best parts of this challenge– the eyes wide open, finding time to write each day, learning from others’ craft, connecting with other slicers, and living a writer’s life. Congrats on making it to the end of the SOL Challenge!

  2. Kathy, those -ing words sitting alone on their lines, show me the power of this process you used in March. Beautiful: catching, scheduling, creating, noticing, connecting, beating.

  3. Lovely post to show the life and actions of a writer. I really enjoyed your end and agree that reading other posts can be inspiring! I feel like I need to spend more time going back through this month’s posts and take notes. Unfortunately this month has been uber exhausting with a lot of outside demands.

  4. Perfect poem to end the challenge! I love that we did live like writers, and I’m sure I’ll miss it. I’ll miss the structure of knowing that I will be writing every day. May your heart keep beating joyfully.

  5. This is a perfect way to describe living life as a writer. After seeing Denise’s comment about the -ing words, I went back and reread the poem and they do pop out…very descriptively effective.
