10 Things I’ve Been Meaning to Tell My Book Club- SOLC Day 22

Fellow Chatterboxes- this is for you!

  1. Thank you for bringing books into my life that I would never have read on my own. You have expanded my understandings of the world, taught me new information and lead me to see the world through other’s eyes.
  2. When I leave our monthly meetings, I always have a full heart- even when our topics are heavy. The meetings refuel me and give positivity to my world.
  3. The food we share is so delicious, whether it is homemade treats or at a local restaurant. I have collected new recipes through our years. Because of you, I was adventurous and tried octopus for the first time.
  4. I love that our friendships have grown beyond Book Club and that we share common hobbies (hiking, RBTL, tea drinking, being in nature) and try new experiences together (sound baths, forest bathing, print making) This makes it easier for me to take risks and be open to giving new things a try.
  5. I treasure that we show up to cheer on each other’s talents( by going to bell choir concerts, purchasing handmade craft items or cheering on those meeting exercise goals) and to celebrate life milestones together (those BIG birthdays, our kids’ graduations and new jobs).
  6. All of you have compassionate and thoughtful hearts. You give freely. I have been on the receiving end of this often- a surprise book in the mail, a Christmas ornament from our favorite summer bar, and meals prepared for my family during times of bereavement. I hope I have extended the same to all of you,
  7. I know we have each other’s backs. We are each other’s Circle of Support. We have been there through the highs and lows of each other’s lives. None of us turn away when things get tough. Actually, we pull together more! If I haven’t said it before, I truly appreciate you being with me throughout my cancer journey.
  8. You make me a better person. By sharing our different perspectives and passionate feelings on topics, you make me think about what I truly value and want in this world. Sometimes its easy and I see the world the same way you do. Other times, our thoughts may differ but it makes me pause and think deeply about myself. I am grateful that our discussions are respectful and insightful discourse. You have a big impact of my life.
  9. It is amazing that this Book Club has stayed together for over 20 years! Yes, we have had some members leave and new members join but this is always a group of strong, caring women. You are lifelong friends and it comforts me to know that you will be with me in the years to come.
  10. Finally, thank you for accepting me for all that I am, flaws and all. I never feel that I am being judged by any of you. This allows me to share my true feelings with you- happiness, pride, despair, worry, or joy. You are my people and I am beyond grateful for each and every one of you.

  3. This is such a beautiful tribute to your book club. Your number 2 is how I feel when I leave my book group. I always feel seen and positive and grateful for what we share. We have also been together for over 20 years. Great post.
