Tea Mood: Which Flavor Will It Be?- SOLC Day 19

Standing in front of my open cupboard, perusing all the choices of tea before me. Hmmmm- what is my tea mood today?

Moroccan Mint- no, not right now. I’m not looking for a pick-me-up with the bright notes of peppermint.

Samba Chai- I’ll pass on that for now. It is a sunny, 70 degree day and I prefer my chai on days that I am curled up in a blanket and feeling cozy. Or on the weekend, when I can have a lazy morning. It is a comfort drink for me.

Matcha- maybe a latte???? No, just not in the mood for the prep it takes to make a good tasting matcha latte- the whisking, the heating of the milk, the whipping. To complicated for right now.

Ginger Lime Roobios- this has a zesty kick to it and I am not feeling “spicy” right now. It is a favorite Springtime tea of mine- especially iced- but will wait on this. Maybe on the 1st day of Spring!

Happy Heart Tea- a mix of white tea with rose petals and lavender. I’ll pass on the floral of this- the rose can be overpowering. Don’t want to feel like I’m swallowing a floral bouquet right now.

So I guess that leaves a final bag of loose tea…

Nutty Almond Cream- This light herbal tea mixes apple, cinnamon and sliced almonds. Right on the bag in large letters it states- RELAXER! Yes, Yes, Yes! That is what I need this evening- time to relax, sip and write.

The water is heated, tea has brewed for 5 minutes and now I sit down to write. Yes, this was a good choice- with each sip I can feel relaxation digesting and spreading through my body.

  1. My kind of a post. The tea mood is a real thing that non-tea drinkers might not understand. I chose loose leaf “Water Fairy” oolong this morning.

  2. I am not a hot tea drinker though I always think of you, cheryl, and Terje when I read something about drinking tea. Knowing nothing about different teas, I rely on your descriptions of them and your moods to give me an idea of what they may taste like. It sounds like you made a good choice!

  3. Cathy, what a lovely collection of teas you have. I enjoyed reading all of them. At first I was thinking you were looking for a morning tea, and I was impressed that the herbal teas were in the running. Ah, but then I discovered you were looking for the perfect evening tea to write with. Nutty Almond Cream sounds like a winner.

  4. I love everything about this slice, as a fellow hot tea drinker. Matching tea to mood is such an art. I do love the loose teas, and lately my choice has been the Throat Coat tea because of pollen making my throat hurt. It has slippery elm and works wonders. You have quite a selection, and that is the best – – – you always have something that will work. Creative slicing (and steeping) at its best…..
