Currently, I am…
listening to: a L’oreal commercial on TV about RevitaLift (makes me think about my complexion and wonder if I need this product)
eating: a watermelon Jolly Rancher ( I wanted something small and sweet)
drinking: water (trying to finish up the water in my water bottle so I reach my hydration goal for the day)
wearing: my cozy hunter green sweatshirt, navy leggings and black socks (Just got back from rowing and still in my workout clothes)
feeling: tired, sad, defeated and sore (I injured my knee snowshoeing a little over 2 weeks ago and had been resting it since then. I tried returning to rowing tonight but needed to leave early because it started hurting. Sitting on the couch now with a heating pad on it and just wondering how long it will take to get back to do the activities I love)
Wanting: to be back to my full self so I can go hiking and play pickleball with friends again. Being out in nature helps recenter me so need to get back out there. I just don’t feel like me without that nature connection.
Needing: a hug from my husband but he is out of town so chatting on the phone will have to be the boost I long for
Thinking: this is not a great or interesting Slice but it is letting me keep my streak of writing for 18 days. If you made it this far, thanks for sticking with me!
Enjoying: sitting on my comfy couch with a blanket warming me, relaxing and releasing my day in words
All observation made on the evening of March 17, 2025.

You may not thinking this is exciting writing but it is real writing. A reflection through actions of one moment. As the reader, I learn lots about the character, you, through your actions and inner feelings. Thanks for being brave to honestly write. Plus, you reminded me of a poem format I haven’t tried yet this March. Maybe tomorrow! Thanks for the inspiration!!

This is an authentic slice, a little peek into your world, through your writing. I can feel your knee pain, and if it doesn’t heal, seek out an MRI to rule out torn meniscus. I avoided and avoided, thinking my knee would heal…and the meniscus just kept tearing more.
Hopefully, you’ll be back to all of your outdoorsy activities. 🙂

Thanks for the info about the meniscus. I just thought it was pain of getting older.

And your pain may just be overuse, as we know, our bodies don’t bounce back as fast. haha

Cathy, I am sorry you are not feeling well. I know how important your time outdoors and activity is to you. Thank you for sharing this structure as I totally forgot about it. Sending you hugs and hope you feel better soon.

Such a creative way to structure a Slice and provide insight into a moment and all that it contacins. I love the participle invitation to ste you in writing motion. (I may copy this. It would work for those tough days, and I have vowed not to complain when I am stranded in the idea desert!) Thanks for a picture I can see and feel. I , too, recenter in nature, and hope your knee returns to normal…soonest!

You hit on why I used it yesterday- I was stuck and no ideas. I looked through old journals and saw it there so used it.

Cathy, how fun! I love the picture. You must have created that yourself with the green sweatshirt, the commercial playing, and the candies handy. The color of paragraph of text adds interest too. It was fascinating to picture you so clearly sitting here on this Monday evening.

Thanks! Actually the picture was created through WordPress’ AI generate picture. It reads your piece and generates an image in the artistic type of your choice.

I love this idea for gathering a bunch of ideas. Looks like a great notebook idea that could lead to other writing forms later. Thanks for sharing your format and your evening.

Thanks for a new idea to use with this prompt- using it to write other pieces that are more in depth. I usually write it and leave it.

Like others, I love this format! Sometimes structure feels like “cheating” (it isn’t!). This piece is rich with stories and details about a real moment in your life.
