Feeling Like a Child Again- SOLC Day 17

Do you remember that feeling of walking into a Scholastic Book Fair as a child- the excitement, the “I want it all!”, the awe at the amount of books before you, the wow!

Well, I got to experience that again today at the 2nd Annual Book Lovers Bliss Book Fair. It was room after room of books, bookmarks, book art, book themed clothing, book jewelry and so many more things. There were so many people brushing shoulder to shoulder sharing their love of all things books. As I entered the first room, I was overwhelmed with all the bookish things before me and excitement bubbling within me to start exploring.

At each booth I browsed, there was an item or two I wanted. Just like my elementary school self- I wanted it all. I wanted books but all the other items were calling to me too. However, just like at the Scholastic Bookfair, I had a certain amount of money to spend. Choices had to be made back then and now.

So I wandered through the whole fair before deciding what I was going to purchase. I decided upon…

a beautiful gold, red and orangish floral journal with a bit of a sparkle to it ( I picked it up 3 diffrerent times so I decided that I meant I really needed it)

a Mystery Date book for my city (It plans a whole date for you and guides you to unique places in your city. Thought this would be a fun gift for my husband.)

a bouquet of flowers made from the pages of used books (My flowers have the words from Pride and Prejudice on them. The flowers are white, lilac and purple and fit so lovely in my writing room. They are on my desk and will make me smile each time I write. Plus they will last forever!

I didn’t actually purchase any books. (I will visit my favorite local bookstore the next time I am in need of a book.) But when I left, I felt like skipping out the door and couldn’t wait to share my purchases with my husband. Such fun! It’s always wonderful to feel that happiness of childhood alive in your heart again.

And yes, I do plan to attend the 3rd annual Book Fair next March.

  1. How fun! I know I would have had a difficult time choosing with an allowance! I can’t wait to see the flowers in your writing room!

  2. Oh, those purchases sound inspiring. I can see why you were skipping out the door. The gift for your husband will be a gift to you too. I love the idea of the paper flowers.
