Where Do You Love to Write?- SOLC Day 10

I smiled as I walked into my room to write. As I sat down to compose this, I started thinking about my favorite places to write.

Inside:

My favorite place to write indoors is curled up in my velvet lilac chair with my fuzzy cream blanket wrapped around me. I light a candle on the table next to my chair to help my brain shift from my daily chaos of life and ignite my creativity. A black container overflowing with colorful pens can also be found on this table. In my hands, you will find my journal or other paper. Something about the physical flow of an Inkjoy across the page helps me release my thoughts in colorful words across an unlined page. It has to be unlined for me- total freedom of expression, however I choose. No lines constraining me. I really don’t like composing on the computer so that will not be near. Often I find myself swiveling from side to side as I pause to think, this movement is calming to me and I think it gets my ideas moving too. My lilac chair is one of my favorite places in my entire house.

Outside:

I really do love to write outside and can’t wait for the return of warm weather to be able to do that again. In the months of May- October, I love to write amongst the trees. Preferably, on a flat boulder covered in green moss with the musical flow of a stream as background noise. I just lose myself in my surroundings and words as well as sketches blossom across the page. Something with the fresh air, sunshine and being surrounded by the natural world frees up my thoughts and my own judgments disappear. I feel totally different than when I write inside.

  1. I loved reading about your favorite places to write and thanks to the rich descriptions you provide, I could easily visualize them even without the lovely photos. I don’t know that I have a favorite place to write yet in my new house and city. In July we will have been here for a year and I think by then I really need to have a couple of favorite places!

  2. I love that you have a lilac chair! Purple girl here and my life won’t be completely until everything in my house has a purple version. I need a purple chair!

    I’m not a big hand writer, so I write either on my phone or my computer. I much prefer writing on my computer. My thoughts come out much better when I can type with all of my fingers on a real keyboard. And whole messy. My office still just feels like the right space to write.

  5. I loved writing with you outside, especially at night. I love writing on my deck overlooking my pool. I love writing in my son’s room, which was converted into my writing space. I always feel close to him in here. I love your purple chair. I need to find a good chair for my room.
