Waiting for Friday night all week long
Dolling up, texts about outfits
10:00- time to head out
Our Uber has arrived
Dancing, drinks, and friends
“That’s our song!!!!”
Last call
Youth
Aged
at home
that’s my wine
quiet, alone, clam
Takeout has just arrived
10:00- will I be up?
Pj’s- as soon as possible
Waiting for Friday night all week long.
Just thinking about the contrast between my daughter’s Friday night plans and my own. I know that we were both happy it was Friday but for very different reasons.
Poetry form: Nonet (I wrote one nonet and then a reverse one to capture the contrast)

I enjoyed reading about your very different Friday nights!

Thanks for explaining the two nonets. At first, I was a bit jealous because I thought you were out dancing, and I thought I was doing Friday nights all wrong. I am the second nonet for sure. Although, I always feel like I should be doing more.

I love the form that you used here. The mirroring that really does highlight the contrasts. When I began reading, I was very excited for you and your Friday night plans. When I finished, I was still excited about your different Friday night plans.

I do really enjoy my relaxing Friday night now. Good memories of those late nights but am good without it now. Still like to dance but earlier in the night!

What an inventive way to capture the contrast of generations. The nonet form is new to me. I may have to give it a try.

Thank you. It is one of my favorite forms.

It’s funny — I think I could be both forms of this on a different Friday — who knows when 10pm rolls around. I really loved the contrast and style of this!!

I love how you contrast your Friday night compared to your daughter’s Friday night. The opening image is also very fun! Love writing nonets, too. I think I will write one today!
