The Joy of Friday Nights: A Poetic Contrast- SOLC Day 8

Waiting for Friday night all week long

Dolling up, texts about outfits

10:00- time to head out

Our Uber has arrived

Dancing, drinks, and friends

“That’s our song!!!!”

at home

that’s my wine

quiet, alone, clam

Takeout has just arrived

10:00- will I be up?

Pj’s- as soon as possible

Waiting for Friday night all week long.

Just thinking about the contrast between my daughter’s Friday night plans and my own. I know that we were both happy it was Friday but for very different reasons.

Poetry form: Nonet (I wrote one nonet and then a reverse one to capture the contrast)

  1. Thanks for explaining the two nonets. At first, I was a bit jealous because I thought you were out dancing, and I thought I was doing Friday nights all wrong. I am the second nonet for sure. Although, I always feel like I should be doing more.

  2. I love the form that you used here. The mirroring that really does highlight the contrasts. When I began reading, I was very excited for you and your Friday night plans. When I finished, I was still excited about your different Friday night plans.
