Gathering in summer’s bounty
one last weekend
harvesting…
the blue sky, sunshiny beach day,
warm grains of sand forming to the shape of my foot,
rhythmic wash of waves dispersing over the shore,
relaxed mind reading while reclined in my beach chair,
a quiet ohhh with my first steps into the cool water,
wading farther and farther into the clearness kissed by sunbeams,
droplets of water and specks of sand sticking to my feet as I leave the lake,
fuzzy, colorful beach towel taking away the slight chill from the wind,
ketchup covered hot dog with french fries from a local stand,
strolling along the pier to the white lighthouse,
gooey hot fudge, caramel, soft-serve vanilla ice cream sundae to top off the day
harvesting
one last weekend
gathering in summer’s bounty.

Well, school starts for me on Tuesday so this was my last weekend of summer. I wanted to gather in many of my favorite summer offerings since most of my days will now be spent inside. This harvest will linger in my thoughts and dreams giving me positive memories until summer rolls around again. It was a fantastic one!

I LOVE your description of your one last visit – just reading it made me feel like I was next to you. I hope you can carry that peacefulness into the school year!

I love the idea of harvesting summer things. Such a lovely way to describe enjoying all that summer has to offer and to gather it in close to you and enjoy it. Have a great school year!

I love where the Teach Write prompt took you! Your descriptions are perfect! I “gathered in summer’s bounty” but not quite the beautiful spot you were in.
