Dark blue pond ripples
bedecked with white gracefulness
on this summer morn-
enchantress of water world
glorifying quiet beauty.
I felt like I was gliding through a Monet painting. One of his famous Water Lilies. As I sat in my kayak and scanned the pond, my eyes were filled with hundreds upon hundreds of white water lilies scattered along the entire circular edge of the pond. My jaw, honestly, hung open in awe. I had never seen this many in one place before.
I didn’t get much of a workout this morning. Instead, I spent my time rowing up to individual water lilies and just soaking in their beauty for awhile. I saw bees flying in and out of their yellow middles. Some lilies had petals fully underwater and dancing in the windy waviness. Others were standing straight and proud on their stems fully above the water. There were buds just beginning to rise out of the water as well as those on the other end of the life cycle- closed and browning a tad.
This was such an unexpected treat that morning. I thank the water lilies for sharing their quiet beauty with the world and casting a spell of joy on my day.

Cathy, the way you marry your photos and your words is beautiful and uplifting.

Thank you. That means a great deal coming from a fellow poet
