Embracing Tranquility: Connecting with Nature on a Walk Through the Woods

Happy-go-lucky new born green leaves

dance in dappled sun

welcoming me back

to my true beginnings

A community of sentinel trees

surround me

enfolding me

in their pytoncides

comforting me as a fellow nature being.

Cheeps, twitters and coos

waft on air

filling my mind with

relaxing, melodic tunes

beckoning my soul

to add chords to nature’s song.

With each whispered footfall

along the gravel path

my stress is

crunch,

crunch,

crunched

into nothingness.

  1. Oooo – I like this – the crunch, crunch, crunch into nothingness! I’m glad my walking poem spurred you to ride. I often feel so tired, but then make myself move and then my mood lifts and my energy returns.

  2. A nature therapy walk! How wonderful. I was there with you walking in the beauty of the woods. It seems to have been a wonderful experience for you, as this poem was birthed. Some of my favorite lines:

    Happy-go-lucky new born green leaves

    A community of sentinel trees

and the birds’ calls “beckoning my soul / to add chords to nature’s song.”

    So much beauty here!

  3. I would absolutely love a nature therapy walk! In fact, I shall have to make this happen. Peace and awe emanate from every line of your verse. I revel in nature’s ability to do this: “comforting me as a fellow nature being.” I’ve said a thousand times, and will probably say a thousand more: We don’t live as close to the earth as we are meant to. There really is healing and wellbeing to be found in it. Thank you for this tranquil offering!
