The sun filled every pane of my French doors
painting the wool green and cream area rug in light.
I felt pulled to bask in that glow
after an exasperating day at work.
Tossing a few pillows on the floor
and grabbing a soft, soothing blanket
I sprawled on the floor
like a cat lapping up the warmth.
Being an afternoon sun goddess,
I drifted off to nap land
as my muscles relaxed from the sun’s heating pad,
Upon awakening,
I realized cats really know a good thing-
slowing down to treasure the light and warmth of our sun.
I need to be a cat more often.

This is AMAZING and so funny!! The picture you’ve painted is vivid in my mind. I absolutely love the title and last line.

Thank you. I was unsure about sharing because it is a bit different. Glad you enjoyed it!

This is awesome! What a wonderful way to relax. Now I want to be a cat, too.

We don’t have enough sun lately. Maybe I’ll be a dog tomorrow and curl up by the fire. Thanks for the inspiration.

Your words showed me what you were doing, and I used to do this – sit on the floor in the sun. Now that I’m older, I’ll hunt for a chair in the sun. I was doing that earlier today!

Curled up in the warm sun…something soft and cozy to curl up on…drifting off for a nap…my cats do all of these. Ah, to be a cat.

What a cute idea to write about. Sounds like a warm retreat. My cat Mister truly does that every morning. He comes up, finds that one space on the carpet where the sun beams in, and lies there content. Ah, yes, to be a cat…
