After Friday’s concert not going as expected, I woke up Saturday excited about the plan for the day. We were heading to a Pierogi Fest. It was advertised as a celebration of everyone’s favorite Polish dumplings plus Polish pastries, soups, sausages, beers and vodkas.
My husband and I were talking about what time we wanted to get there when I thought, ” I wonder if we need tickets”. So I went online to check. Well, you do.
All SOLD OUT!
No! NO! NOOOO!
I guess I missed that when I saw it advertised on Thursday. I had really wanted to do something fun on Saturday after yesterday ‘s debacle.
Okay so now what?
Well, my husband and I decided to have a Pierogi Fest at home. I make pierogies each year for Christmas Eve. Usually they are devoured that night but this year there were still over 2 dozen in our freezer. So this would be our dinner.
We dipped into our Polish Vodka to toast our yummy homemade pierogies. Sobieski’s vodka is our one of choice. It is made from rye which gives it a smooth flavor.
Since we didn’t have any Polish pastries, we ended the night with Krupnik. It is a sweet alcoholic drink similar to a liqueur. It is popular in Poland. It is based on grain spirits and honey is the main ingredient that adds the sweetness. Other herbs can be added as well.
Our at home Pierogi Fest was delicious and added some replacement fun to my weekend.

Sounds like a great fest. No ticket needed. No need to buy anything. And you didn’t need to leave the house. My mom made her own pierogies and they never lasted too long.

Sounds like a great celebration. Can you believe that some people don’t know what pierogis are? I had some great ones in Fargo, ND last spring.

That’s sounds like a fun fest! So glad you had a backup plan. Homemade pierogis are soooo good. Our local orthodox church has what they call Bazaar Russe twice a year and we always go for the pierogi and kielbasa! YUM!
