It is not a burst,
a spark of warmth
that passes quickly.

inferno
whole body aflame
spreading its range
intense uncontrolled blaze
conflagaration

Oh man, I could feel the heat coming off of this slice! I don’t experience hot flashes right now but I’ve been on medication that have caused them in the past and they are brutal! So this slice definitely fits!

They have been increasing for me in intensity the last few months. No longer a flash for sure!

Each line shares the the feeling perfectly. My favorite is” intense uncontrolled blaze”. I also learned a new word,” conflagaration” thanks for sharing this too. Yes the feeling is unbearable and I’ve been told it gets better.

Unfortunately I remember this all too well. As if solid sleep isn’t hard enough to come by when you’re living your life, along comes self-immolation. Hang in there. It passes—and that, too, brings its own eye on “maturity.” (That tag is comprehensive!)

What can I say? I know my wife experienced them and you would swear by looking at her that she just came in from outside after running a mile in 90 degree temperatures. Flash indicates that they are here and gone quickly. Hope that’s true for you.

Probably whoever named it a “hot flash” had never actually had a hot flash! Great use of color as the intensity of your poem increases.
