Slice of Life Challenge Story Challenge begins today.
Something about the word “challenge” is freezing up my brain.
Challenge brings up my fighting instincts, survival instincts, warrior instincts.
That word prepares me for a battle.
Yes, it is just a word, but it has power.
Reading the word -“challenge”-
my creative pathways surrender to my urge to win at all costs
and inspiration is crushed.
So I will be switching this monthly call to an invitation.
This word brings positivity to my mind.
A casual request to join others in the joy of writing-
to be encouraged, supported and inspired
My RSVP is
I will be present.
I will participate.
My creativity will be spurred on by other attendees
and hopefully ignited for all 31 days.

I like the change from Challenge to Invitation. It makes it less of a competition and more like a group of likeminded individuals getting together and sharing stories.

I am feeling the same way – showing up – participating – and being present.

Cathy, I love that shift. It is less intimidating. I am so happy you are participating. I can’t wait to read more of your slices.

I can totally relate to all the emotions that “challenge” conjures! I like how you used color to differentiate the parts of your writing.

Word reframing is a powerful mindset tool. I too approach this challenge as an opportunity. “You may write, but you don’t have to.”
