Sweet Dilemmas of a Book Fair

Like a kid in a candy store,

I stand at the entrance of the book fair

bouncing on the balls of my feet

unsure of where to go first…

Do I go to a tried and true favorite- an often visited bookstore’s booth?

Do I go with the trending treat and join the snaking line at the featured author’s table?

Do I sit down and savor the delight of words being read aloud by a poet?

Do I go in search of a rare delicacy, an antiquated edition of a favorite book?

Do I go take a risk on a controversial flavor and examine the banned books table?

…. all I really know is I best get started before my time runs out –

It’s a book fair shopping spree and I have 2 hours to feast. So here I go…

  1. I started to pick a favorite line (“trending treat”) and as I re-read I see you clever ‘flavor’ imagery throughout your piece! Book Fair as buffet table, or food court, or ice-cream parlor! Written like a true book lover.

  2. I am a bit envious. And I also feel relief that I am not there. I shouldn’t be allowed to book fairs. Even bookstores are a trap for me.
