There are certain songs that are tied very closely to different times in my life. The music has supported me through grief, joy, disappointment and celebrations. Just hearing the beginning notes brings forth vivid feelings, sometimes tears, laughter, smiles or sighs join the melody. The songs wrap me in a supportive hug as I replay memories in my mind. Music plays an important part in my life and I am thankful that it walks beside me through highs and lows.
I wrote this post in my notebook and placed a photo of it here. I hope you can read what was written for each song.

This is great! I love that you shared a photo of your notebook rather than typing it all up here. I feel like I know you better and understand you as a person after reading these.

I am so much more of a notebook person since I can use color, doodle and not right in lines. So glad you liked the post!

Wow, I absolutely love this post. First, I love that it’s written and includes your notes. I’ve been wanting to get back into my notebook, but just don’t feel inspired to write anything in it – I might start with this! Second, I’d love to do this with my high school students!!

I so love writing in my notebook because it feels more creative and free to me than straight lines. Hope your students like the prompt!

I love the departure from a “typical” writing format. This is a beautiful way to represent things that are core to you.

Music is magical. Somehow we can be transported to a time and place through sound. What an amazing experience. Thanks for sharing your favorite songs and how they make you feel.

I want to try this on a double-page spread in my notebook with colored pens or pencils. Many of your songs, especially Roar and Fithian and For Good will be on my pages, too.

Cathy, I love this journal page, and we share some of the same life-shaping songs. I think this will be one of my slices in the future.

Seeing your notebook page makes my heart smile as I know what a big part of your life it holds. I’d have to think about this one. We have a lot of summer pool songs that immediately take me there. I am actually working on a movie post just like this one. I don’t know if I knew you lost a sister. Did I know this???

I so love creating in my notebook vs. blogging in straight lines. So you probably didn’t know about my sister. She passed away 13 years ago after a 5 year battle with breast cancer. She was 10 years older then me. I used to help her set up her classroom when I was a teenager. She inspired me as a teacher and I miss talking with her about school. Laurie helped make me who I am today. I learned so much by watching her. I miss my big sis every day.

Thanks for sharing this journal page, Cathy. I love a peek into each other’s notebooks. I, too, have songs that trigger many memories — the good, the bad, the ugly.
