For the past few days, I have walked past my pink and cream poinsettia still in full bloom and thought I should write a slice about it. It has popped in and out of mind today so I will give it the attention the thoughts seem to be asking for.
Really, I am in awe right now. I have NEVER had a poinsettia live this long. Usually I buy new ones in the beginning of December and by the first week of January the leaves are shriveled and crunchy and it is flowerless. I do not have a green thumb and tend to overwater my plants or forget to water them. It has lived through 4 months without great care from me. So this poinsettia is a survivor!
As Easter is nearing, just a few short days away, I am thinking that I will place this Christmas flower amongst my Easter decorations. Its pastel pink and cream colors blend with the Springy colors of my other decorations. I want to celebrate its living! It has defeated death so far. This poinsettia is a thriver!
So this “Christmas Star” will bring it’s holiday cheer to Easter this year. Its will share its meaning of good cheer, success and celebration. It joined in my family’s celebration of Christ’s birth and now it will rejoice with us about His resurrection. Haooy Easter, Poinsettia!

I think this is a poinsettia that wants to stay the distance and serve multiple holidays. I’d keep it around as it must be very special!

What a great way to meld Christmas and Easter, both very special days. Whatever you are doing, or not doing, keep it up. Your flower is thriving.

I’m so i
pressed w/ your poinsettia and equally impressed you haven’t committed involuntary horticulture homicide, my specialty for house plants. Happy Easter. May you be celebrating the next holiday w/ the enduring poinsettia.

I totally don’t understand. I guess it thrives on neglect.
