Joining the Music Party – SOLC Day 29

I am joining the Slicers’ Music Party hosted by Leigh Anne Eck at https://adayinthelifeof19b.blogspot.com/2025/03/slicer-music-festival-sol-6.html

Here are my 3 songs:

“Tomorrow” from Annie My friends and I would listen to vinyl of this musical almost daily. We would take turns belting out the lyrics and even choreographing our own dances. “Tomorrow” was one of my favorites and whenever I was feeling down or alone, I would sing this song. “The sun will come out tomorrow…”

“White Christmas” by Bing Crosby My favorite crooner of this song was my dad. He didn’t sing often during the year. Maybe he would play his guitar in secret. But, at Christmas, he would sing this song loud and proud for all to hear. I loved having his voice fill my body. It was a special connection to a part of him that only opened at Christmas as a precious gift. My dad passes away along time ago but I smile every time I hear this song at Christmas. I just wish I could hear his voice again.

“Be Okay” by Lauren Daigle During the final months of my cancer journey, this was my song. It helped me on tough days and gave me hope that I would be okay at the end of the journey. And I am okay! I played this song over and over again and the words would keep singing in my head at appointments and procedures. These words feel like a comforting hug while wrapping you in hope.

    1. I love this format of reflecting on music, and how songs can have stories all there own. You share the importance of each song with love and vulnerability.

    2. Thank you for the links! It’s fun to listen to the songs. I haven’t thought about “Tomorrow” in a long time, but it was definitely an important song for a period of my childhood as well! You’ve expanded the range of songs I’m thinking about bringing to the music fest!
