The vibrant green box on my desk catches my attention. My Girl Scout cookies have arrived.
Since I have 15 minutes before my students come through the door, I open the box and slide out a tube of cookies.
Opening the crinkly, clear plastic wrapper releases a minty scent into the air. Oh what wonderful aromatherapy as happiness spreads through my body, memories of eating these cookies over the years. Breathe in, breathe out, breathe in- take a moment just to enjoy the mintyness.
Then I pull one chocolate-covered floret-shaped cookie out. There is a thin layer of chocolate surrounding the dough of the cookie. It is just enough chocolate so you take notice of how it enhances the cookie without overpowering it. The chocolate is beginning to melt in my hand so now the best part, eating it.
There is a crisp crunch as I bite the cookie in half. The chocolate covering begins to melt across my tongue. As my teeth crush the cookie, chocolate and mint blend together flavoring my tastebuds. Mmmm- mmmm- this combination is just oh so good.
Then the swallow with the subtle taste lingering in my mouth. Oh, this was an absolutely lovely treat!
I glance at the clock and still have 10 minutes. That’s plenty of time to have another one. I don’t think you are supposed to eat just one.

Glenda Funk wrote a great post about girl scout cookies this month, and it would be fun to collect stories. I could eat a sleeve of those Scottish shortbreads.
