Capturing Winter’s Beauty: A Journaling Journey

For the month of January, I am taking part in the challenge from Wild Wonder Foundation to nature journal each day. I will do my best to meet that challenge but also plan to give myself grace on the days I can’t fit it in.

The above poem was written in response to the prompt for poetry of place and moment. The prompt suggested that you record I notice, I wonder and It reminds me of ideas for the world you are observing. Then do the same 3 prompts looking internally at yourself and feelings. After completing these steps, then look for words or phrases that stand out to you and write a poem alternating external then internal.

This poem was written looking out the back windows of my house as snow gracefully danced through the air. I felt like I was in a snowglobe. It was a perfect picture of winter.

Here is an image of the journal page I used to collect my observations and play around with words to create the above poem.
