Admiring
the last blooms of the season.
Desiring
to be these colorful rebels.
Defying
the rules of life’s decline.
Living
with vibrant beauty in an unexpected time.
With it being mid-November, flowers typically do not bloom where I live. This weekend, I noticed that some strong spirited flowers where still in bloom. It probably was about 10 of them in 3 varieties. They were blooming amongst the brown, lifeless and even decaying plants. Their vibrant peachy orange, white and periwinkle added the joy of living to my background landscape. I paused to think about their strong-willed desire to live even in conditions that do not support their thriving. They are fierce little beings. These late blooming flowers have a life lesson for us all.

Thanks for the appreciation of late blooms. My flowers are getting close to fading. Time to trim back for winter.

Enjoy your flowers while you can. 20 degrees here tonight so mine will definitely be gone.

I love how you present your poems lines in changing colors, and also your strong opening words: admiring/desiring.defying/living.

Thank you. I’m glad you enjoyed the colors. I thought I should use color since the blooms are colorful rebels.

Such beauty! Yes, a powerful reminder of the will to live despite all circumstances indeed. This looks like a petunia. I have some lantana that is up to the same tricks, and I can’t bear to clip the stems. I am tempted to bring the last of the colorful blooms indoors. Then there are the azaleas around back – – the bush is still loaded. I suppose we’d better enjoy this while we can.

You are right- it is a petunia. There were 3 blooms on the plant. Such a treat! It gets down to below freezing here tonight so the anemone will be gone. Enjoy your flowers as long as you can!
