Light from over a million years
pinpricks the vast blackness
alivening the connection
between the reverent stardust of the galaxies
and the celestial matter
in my humble body.
I stare in wonder at this awesomeness
recognizing my smallness,
trying to discern the wisdom
whispering in messages of light.
On a final getaway for the summer, I was able to escape to the shore of Lake Ontario. It was a beautiful view of various blues during the day but the night sky was the best delight.
Sitting around a firepit right at the water’s edge, I glanced up at the sky one more time before heading in for the night. I was totally surprised by the sight above me! The clouds had cleared and the night sky was bedeckled with numerous stars in various stages of brightness. This was a pure gift of this weekend as no manmade light interfered with nature’s awesome display. For over another hour, I stayed staring into the heavens and absorbing the light of the stars. So peaceful!

Can you find the Big Dipper right next to the flag? It was so bright that night and easy to find.
