I am the lucky one…
because I’ve been loved tenderly, supportively, sweetly by my husband and best friend for over 34 years.
I am the lucky one…
because each day I am reminded of the wonder and joy in this world by my wise K-2 students.
I am the lucky one…
because I have strong family traditions and wonderful childhood memories that warm me with my parents’ love even though they have left this earth
I am the lucky one…
because there are moments when words just fly off my pen guided by a creating force larger than me
I am the lucky one…
I am the LUCKY one.
I AM the lucky one!

I love this post and your positive outlook. I am not Irish either but actually Icelandic and Polish but today we are all Irish haha!

Love this scaffold – works so well here! Did you create it or is there a mentor poem? Beautiful sentiments captured.

I love this build up and especially varying the emphasis at the end! Might have to borrow this style.

I pray our luck never runs out! Like how you wrote this. I might have to change mine for next year! π I too like the last lines with the emphasis.
