Miss…..ball gone.

Last night I had such a delight playing vintage pinball games. My husband and I had a date night at the Pinball Collective. I thought it was going to be all modern machines which would have been fun too but I was wrong. Interspersed among the modern Game of Thrones, Star Wars and Godzilla machines, were these old relics. I was pulled to play these. I so enjoyed their faded colors, theme graphics, subtle flashing lights and mellow sounds- chings, bings and clicking as the numbers rotated to show the score. These machines had a simplicity about them. There were no big flashing lights, loud sounds or moments when the ball was hidden from you being controlled by the machine itself. It was just you, the ball and the flippers. The flippers moved freely but with much less power than the modern counterparts. It took more focus to know when to flick the ball to give it the most power to soar back up to the bumpers and cling-n-ding collecting more points with each flash and sound. These vintage machines provided an innocent joy and an escape from our sensory-assulting world. Thanks for the joy you wonderful, innocent games of days gone by.
