So I was walking with three 2nd graders down the hall and one of them happened to be turning 8 today. I wished her a happy birthday.
Then this conversation followed…
Student 1: How old are you Mrs. Hutter?
Me: Oh, I’ll tell you if you can guess it.
Student 1: Are you 60?
Me: Oh. not yet! I am a number less than 60.
Student 2: Are you 28?
Me: Well, I am more than that number.
Student 3: How about 50?
Me: I am more than that.
Student 3: So you are more than 50 but less than 60?
Me: Yep.
Student 1: 52?
Me: More.
Student 3: 53?
Me: Ding! Ding! Ding! That is it. I am 53.
Student 2: How can you not be 28?
I just love you Student 2! You made my day with that comment. You made me feel 28 :-).

I am not good at guessing age, but kids usually have no sense of age. They guess mine, and then I tell them I have a daughter 32! That gets them every time!

I love this conversation! It makes me wonder what my 6th graders would guess about me. I am not sure what I want to know. They do know that I was born in another century! That makes me feel so old when one puts it that way.
