I see you sitting so innocently on my desk.
Your screen is black
BUT
somehow your energy pulsates across the room.
Activating my brain to
wonder
what I would find if I awakened your screen.
My fingers twitch as my brain signals their
readiness
for movement.
NO! NO! NO! I
scream
aloud in my mind.
DO NOT GET UP AND WALK OVER THERE!
Stay where you are.
Enjoy that cup of tea while watching the snowflakes dance from the heavens.
Push
the thought of scrolling out of your mind.
You possess the power to
overcome
this call to habit.
You
are
so much more than your phone.
Breathe-
exhale out its power.
Take a sip-
fortify your inner strength.
Be mindful-
enjoy the calming beauty out the window.
YES!
You defeated the call of screen time for now.
Celebrate this victory
allow it to bolster you for future success
Be vigilant…
the next mind battle will come-
possibly as soon as this page is done.

I think I need to celebrate my victory whenever I win against this insane pulsating energy that tries to pull me too.. Nice write up. 😄👍🏽

I can definitely relate to this. I’m relatively new to being super attached to my phone, but it is now undeniably an undesirable situation. I need to think a bit more about how I can set some limits. Good luck with your ongoing battle!

I get this. I try to limit my scrolling time, too. What makes it harder is I often read books on an iPad, so that gives me a “reason” to open the iPad or the phone. I’m working on being more intentional with this, so thanks for the reminder!

It’s very habit forming…that ‘scrolling’ and so refreshing when you realize an hour or two have gone by and you don’t even know where your phone is! 🙂
