3 tsp. of back-n-forth texts
1 dash of an unexpected phone call
2 tbsp of tearful hugs of joy
4 cups of dreams of the future coming true
Sprinkle back-n-forth texts throughout an ordinary day. Add an unexpected phone call, just because. Blend in tearful hugs of joy at an arrival back home for a day or more. Combine with dreams for the future coming true.
The idea of recipe writing came from a monthly writing challenge- Cooking Up Some Fun at Teach Write Academy.

A lovely post! Rose and I wrote about recipe writing in our book for Stenhouse, Nonfiction Mentor Texts. I used recile writing in fourth, fifth, and sixth grades in social studies, science, and math classes. First, I signed out lots of cookbooks written for kids and let the students study the genre. We created an anchor chart to describe what a recipe looks like. The kids loved it!
